a. What is learner centered instruction (LCI)?
"Because every student learns in a different way, the way of teaching has to change".
Learning Centered Instruction is an approach which incorporates student skills and interests into the learning process. It focuses on student experiences and useful strategies that teachers use for student success.
b. What is the main role of the teacher in LCI?
Helping students to learn in a familiar way and providing them opportunities to experience learning is the main role of the teacher in LCI.
c. Explain the 4 key principles of student centered learning.
1. Personalized Learning is the first principles of student centered learning. For example, if teachers know their students, they can be able to provide them an individual and effective attention in order to develop skills.
2. The second key of student centered learning is that learning is competency-based. It means that students learn on their own pace. For example, some students are good at Math; however, they can't be good at English. That's why teachers have to know how their students learn.
3. Another key of student centered learning is that learning happens anytime, anywhere. To be specific, students learn through their own experiences. It helps to know who they are and how the wold is.
4. The last key of student centered learning is that students take ownership. For instance, teachers have to make decisions with students. It is necessary to engage students with the process of learnig to get a meaningful suceess.
