a. What is Learner Centered Instruction?

Learner centered instruction focuses on the student as an active learner, on improving student learning and success, rather than on the transmission of knowledge. It encourages students' interaction with the content, with one another and the teacher, and with the learning process. It encourages students' reflection, dialogue, and engagement, as well requires a reliable assessment of their content mastery.

b. What is the main role of the teacher in LCI?

The main role of the teacher in CLI is to develop his or her instruction on students' real needs, interests and learning profiles. Teachers take into account students' prior knowledge and experiences to build upon them the new knowledge and develop meaningful learning. Besides, teachers challenge student assumptions about learning and encourage them to accept responsibility for decisions they make about learning.

c. Explain the 4 key principles of student centered learning.

The four key principles of SCL such as: Learning is personalized, Learning is competency-based, Learning happens anytime, anywhere and Students take ownership, work all together for an effective and successful learning process. By applying these four principles, teachers are able to get to know to their students and create strong relationships among them. This kind of relationship allows teachers to know better their students' skills and habilites developed during the learning process, as well as teachers respond to the students' individual needs, interests, and challenges. Likewise, students play a direct role on their own learning progress and success being actively engaged, motivated, and autonomous during the instruction.
